Field Notes

Description:

The northern cardinal is one of my favorite backyard birds. This is the adult male with its bright red feathers, a black face and red bill.

Habitat:

Its range extends over most of the eastern USA, parts of extreme southeastern Canada, and south through Mexico to Belize. It has also been introduced to Hawaii. This particular cardinal was spotted in my backyard.
