Description:

The sexes are alike with this woodpecker. The white spot at the base of the bill in front of the eye is a good identifying characteristic. They feed on the sap of living trees.

Habitat:

Spotted on a deciduous tree at Flaming Geyser State Park. Range along the west coast of N.A.
