Field Notes
Description:
The fruiting body of this fungus is cup shaped and can measure up 20 mm across. Young of this fungi are bright orange, but pale as they mature. These are a pale yellow, even the small ones, although the smaller ones are a little brighter than the big ones. The stipe is pale or white. The distinguishing characteristic of these are the stiff white hairs on the outside. The hairs are prominent around the rim of the cup.
Habitat:
These were found on a dead log in the Amazon rainforest of SE Ecuador (700 masl).
Notes:
This was a first for me so I was glad to find several in varying stages of maturity.
