Blue Rock Thrush; Roquero solitario
Monticola solitarius
39.6796, -0.670418
Field Notes
Description:
These birds are residents and partial migrants but not normally seen in this area so I was privileged to see this migrant female in the garden taking a bee from a flower.
<br>
At first glance this looked like a female Blackbird but it was too small, smaller even than a Starling. The horizontal stripes on the belly and vent give away its true identity.
Habitat:
Garden
