Mystery Mushroom D from before, older specimen, suspected Psathyrella candolleana complex (pic 1 of 2)
40.6631, -73.9631
Field Notes
Description:
Cap 2", margins striated, center has tan center, chocolate brown spores (next picture), white stalk that snaps, fibrous and hollow, clusters of these surrounding the base of a norway maple on all sides. I photographed the young ones (Mystery Mushroom D from a few days ago) and they had yellow-brown caps with cobwebby veil still covering gills, some of it stretching across the young caps. This specimen was the most intact well developed one. Gills brownish but I guess they're whitish when young. Sounds much like the Psathyrella candolleana complex. http://www.mushroomexpert.com/psathyrella_candolleana.html
Habitat:
ground and crevice surrounding a Norway maple
