Description:

Pine-drops is a nonphotosynthetic, parasitic plant that obtains nutrients from its host via mutualistic fungal hyphae that form connections between the roots of the parasite and its host plant.

Habitat:

Mixed woods close to a large marsh.

Notes:

Mer Bleue Conservation Area, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Ramsar site no. 755.
Conservation Status: imperiled (S2) in Ontario, CA (NatureServe).
