Description:

If you ever collected acorns and noticed a small whole on the side of one, this was probably your culprit. The Acorn Weevil uses it's incredibly long mouth to drill through the sides of a green acorn and drinks the lipidy-liquid inside. The females then they their eggs inside the acorn and cover the hole. Once the acorn falls to the ground in fall, the larva pops out, digs into the ground, and hangs around in the soil for three years before they finally emerge as and adult.

Habitat:

Oak woodland
