Procerus is the subgenus, the genus is still Carabus (uff...) ;-)

Could be, David! I did not have the time to check "all" candidates, but I would like to see more pictures before I would dare to get closer than the genus.
My best shout is Procerus scabrosus ,from the colour ,grooving on the electra and the shape of the thorax ,but there are a few similar species. It is found in Turkey and Bulgaria.
Carabidae or Ground Beetle. Could be a Carabus sp.

Domyou have other pictures of it with the whole beetle and other perspectives or details of the head?
