Field Notes

Description:

A colourful waasp moth with a bright red abdomen with black bands and a black tip. Thorax is black with a white spot between the head and each wing. The antennae are black with white ends. The wings are black with three clear patches near the body and three clear patches in the middle of the wings.

Habitat:

In a clearing by the river running through the decidous broad leaf forest in the Khao Chamao - Khao Wong National Park complex.

Notes:

Most of the wasp moths i have seen in thailand so far have been orange and black or yellow and black. This is the prettiest so far.
