Field Notes

Description:

A member of the deer family. Roughly the size of a quarter horse. They are very rugged mountain going big game animals. They have antlers which they shed around March of every year. Then the males grow them back per the summer.

Habitat:

Forest, arid, some desert, and even grassland.

Notes:

I had to stop in Alpine, Wy on my way through as these are wintering in the elk refuge until spring. In years past the wolves have also been spotted on this refuge.
