Description:
Lily family. It has orange funnel-shaped flowers. Plant is 2 to 4 ft. tall. The day lily looks like the wood Lilly, but it doesn't have purplish-brown spots.
Habitat:
Day Lillies were spotted along the road on Hwy 29 near the Tamarac NWR sign.
Notes:
This native of Eurasia was introduced to gardens and has escaped from cultivation. Each flower lasts only one day. Every part of the plant is edible, the flower buds taste like green beans when cooked and served with butter.
