Field Notes

Description:

Limacodidae or Euclidae, the slug or cup moth caterpillar has protective stingers all over its body. There are more than 1000 different kinds of them, and many more that are not yet described.
They are called slug moth caterpillars, because of their resemblance to slugs. They are also called cup moth caterpillars because their cocoon resembles a cup. They are found mostly in tropical areas, but occur worldwide.

Habitat:

Subtropical mountainous area. Thick brush. Very humid.

Thanks Fyn Kynd. I am deeply honored to even be consider for this. :)
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
Excellent. This one looks so Taiwan in colors. They are called slug moth caterpillars (or slug foot) because they have no obvious legs (or prolegs) just a single flat surface underneath.
Yes they are exquisite. What's even more amazing is that each one seems to have varied colors. I will post more soon. :)
