Field Notes

Description:

Very small. Perhaps 1/4 inch. Iridescent. Blue- green thorax, and what appears to be red eyes. I think I could see a yellow and black striped abdomen.

I had to rescue the little fellow three times... It kept landing upside down next to my computer, legs flailing. Kinda cute- would like to know what it is.

Habitat:

Ranger Station, Silver Springs State Park.

Though I am not sure which genus or species, I believe this is a type of Long-legged Fly. http://bugguide.net/node/view/100/bgpage
