Vegetarian Ladybird

Henosepilachna sp.

Comments (4)

The members of Epilachninae subfamily ARE Vegetarians (as larvae and adult). Usually, Ladybirds prey on Aphids, etc.
Many many thanks, thaptor. I wonder why they call it vegetarian.
Plant appears to be a Solanum spp., which are foodplants for several members of genus. By spot pattern, this could be H. indica - but by no means certain, I miss the bright rings around spots in NatHist collection, also in other spp. from Asia (yellow species labels). May be fading after death. http://eos.naturkundemuseum-berlin.de/search?fullScientificName_search=&Family=&GenusSubgenus=&SpeciesSubspecies=&AuthorYear=&page=1228&order=Family_1&sort=asc
