Field Notes

Description:

An attractive shiny black leaf beetle with two rows of 4 red patches on the elytra. Pronotum, head, eyes and legs were all black.

Habitat:

Spotted on a myrtle bush ( under eucalyptus trees )in a reserve. <br>

Notes:

Said to live under tree bark and feed on eucalyptus leaves at night. <br>

Thanks Martin. Was delighted to find this one- thought of you straightaway and obviously used your website to look it up. There were a few little scarabs, native bees, weevils and the slender-bodied longicorn around - all spotted before so this one was rather special.
A scarce beetle. Nice find.
