Field Notes

Description:

Thin abdomen totally encased by transparent wings) brownish-blackish in colour). Large eyes that appear almost Alien-like (as in movies). Distinctive antennae.

Habitat:

I saw it resting perfectly aligned along the stem of a stunted ridge gourd plant...the apparent sudden and localized thickness of the stem attracted my attention and I went over to take a look whereupon the "stem" changed position...I thought it was a Dobsonfly and tried to take a closer look. The insect took flight. The flight was a fluttering one; as if unaccustomed and the abdomen moved a bit like the pendulum could see it through the transparent wings.

Notes:

First photo has been cropped so that features can be seen better for ID.
