Description:

Polypore fungus with velvety orange upper surface, grey underside. I wonder if this is a fungus growing on a polypore?

Habitat:

Growing at the base of a living hemlock tree in a suburban/rural yard. PNW.

Notes:

Thanks Jae for help with this ID. It is now quite black from age.
