spotted in home garden on plants started from the tops of grocery-bought fruit

Notes:

The Pineapple, named for its resemblance to the pine cone, is a tropical plant with edible multiple fruit consisting of coalesced berries, and the most economically significant plant in the Bromeliaceae family. (Wikipedia)

Thank you, drP. While it does take a couple of years for the pineapple top to produce fruit, it is well worth it.
Nice pictures! I used to love growing plants from grocery store leftovers (avacado seeds, a stray pearl onion, etc.).
