Description:

The Common Hedge Blue is a small butterfly found in Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar, Thailand, Philippines, Borneo and New Guinea that belongs to the Lycaenids or Blues family.

Habitat:

It is fairly uncommon but widely distributed throughout the island in forested throughout Sri Lanka.
It is known to migrate but its flight is weak and it frequently settles on low bushes and small trees. It basks in the sun and visits small wild flowers along forest glades. They are often seen in huge numbers on damp soil during hot weather.
