Description:

About 30cm long. Very colorful bird. Mainly eats grubs, termites, ants etc.. by opening tree barks and wood and using the long tongue to probe deep inside. Also seen them eating fruits like ripe papaya, mango etc. They also feed on nectar from flowering banana trees.

Habitat:

This one used to visit my compound wall regularly. Spotted it searching for ants along the wall.

Notes:

This is an old photo taken in 2011.
