Description:

Female. Beautiful beetle of the Buprestidae family. It lives in oak forests since the larvae develop inside quercus genus trees, specially Quercus ilex, Quercus faginea and Quercus pyrenaica.It is a great flier with big eyes, short antennae and stout body. The male is green while the female has metallic green, red, bluish and yellowish colors. They feed on flowers pollen.

Quercus Pyrenaica forest. Reserva de la Biosfera del Real Sitio de San Ildefonso-El Espinar.
