Description:
There were four fruitbodies on a fallen tree, and three more on a still standing birch in our shared garden. Fruitbodies are about 12 to 15 cm across, corky on touch, half-spherical in shape, flat above and about 1,5 cm thick, almost uniformly. Seen from above, it shows concentric circles line and rings. Undersides (pics N° 2 and 5) shows a maze-like pattern designed by a thin walled pores. The fungus provokes the white rot in trees.
Habitat:
Observed growing on an isolated birch tree in our garden, suburban Geneva, rural environment, Geneva lake valley. garden continues on pasture, bordering an oak forest.
