Description:

Brown and gray moth that resembles bird excrement. Larval hosts listed as oaks, poplars, sweet cherry, and willows

Habitat:

Southeastern United States. This one was photographed in Edgefield County, SC.

Notes:

Attracted to porch light at the edge of a southern deciduous forest.
