Field Notes

Description:

Female Ostrich, typically tall, Light grey to mousy tan body plumage, head, neck and legs bare looking, but with a very light white to grey feather covering. Very large eyes with long lashes.

Habitat:

Seen in open grassland

Notes:

This pair actually had been mating on the road and were disturbed by our vehicle coming up the hill, the male quickly taking off and leaving the female looking more miffed by his by his departure than by our disturbance.
