Description:

Insect found in my yard. Looks like it has wings but they have been torn off. Crab like front claws. Very scary looking.

I agree with Sergio. Definitely looks like a mole cricket to me.
This is a mole cricket: Order Orthoptera, Superfamily Grylloidea, Family Gryllotalpidae. The two main genera in US are Scapteriscus and Neocurtilla.
