Description:

This low-growing plant was on the beach on Shackleford Island, North Carolina. It was a great nectar plant, drawing hundreds of butterflies. Can someone please help me ID it?

Habitat:

Shore, just above high tide mark. Mid-Atlantic Coast. Flowering in late April.
