Field Notes

Description:

They dig a tunnel in ground and seal it with a silk-hinged lid. They hide under this lid and make forays out when prey is sensed, presumably by vibration. Males are often found wandering in late spring, presumably looking for mates. (information from BugGuide)

Habitat:

City park

Notes:

A co-worker noticed these little spiderlings all over his truck that was parked near a building at work. I collected and moved every one that I could locate. I hope some of them grew up! :-)
