Field Notes

Description:

About 18mm long; relatively very long antennae; legs don't look longicornish

Habitat:

Attracted to ceiling by lights at night from back yard

No luck with search so far but it looks the same as http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/17391138

Definitely!! That's really a beetle!! Now I also notice the anterior legs (femurs) and the "reticulated" body pattern. I apologize to kept you busy with moths ;-)...

I hadn't even thought of moths bayucca - probably because of the shiny pitted elytra. Interesting thought though - thanks. I'll dig a bit deeper into my photos for clues.
I am not very familiar with micromoths and longhorn moths in your area and there is also not much info about these ones. I quickly checked Crambidae/Crambinae/Pyraustinae and Pyralidae. The pose and antennae might match for some of them, so it also might be a Pyraloidea. However, the antennae look really quite long, maybe too long for Pyraloidea?
