Robber Fly with Honey Bee Meal

With the hot weather and baking sun, come the robber flies (Asilidae, Diptera), making easy pickings from the myriad other flying insects, large and small, which are on the wing at the same time. But they are not alone..... . Accompanying this meal were a couple of gatecrashers, tiny opportunistic flies sharing in the spoils. You have to look very closely behind the bee's eye (the second interloper was on the other side).
