Little Corella
Cacatua sanguinea sanguinea
-17.07, 125.25
Field Notes
Description:
Little Corellas are mostly white, with a fleshy blue eye-ring and a pale rose-pink patch between the eye and bill. In flight, a bright sulphur-yellow wash can be seen on the underwing and under tail. The sexes are similar in plumage, and young birds look like the adults, but are slightly smaller - Birdlife Australia
Habitat:
This pair were hanging in the tree which was along the bank of a small flowing river at the Silent Grove campground, near Bell Gorge.
Notes:
These two were quite happy to play it up for the camera when we stopped to photograph them but they did get a little shy :D
While this spotting was at Silent Grove campground, closer to Derby I have seen "Little Corella" trees as they come into roost for the night! Heaps of them!
