Description:

The Durian tree is a tall tree that is usually cultivated for production of its large, thorny fruits with seeds covered with a thick, creamy flesh. These fruits are called "durian" and are very popular among most Southeast Asian cultures. It has simple leaves with coppery scales on the lower surface. Flowers are large, cream to yellow, in clusters and growing from the branches and trunk.

Habitat:

Rainforest of South-east Asia (Singapore area and Malaysia). Warm, humid climate (approx. 25-35 degrees Celsius).

Notes:

Some Malaysian people use the roots to treat lingering fever, and the leaves to treat yellow fever.
