Field Notes

Description:

Tried to feed one of the tube-dwelling spiders a southern oak bush-cricket. The spider rejected my offering. It was definitely hungry, though... it came all the way out of her tube one time when all I had was a leaf as bait. Unfortunately, it was way too quick: went straight back in before I could gather my wits and get my camera up. These photos were taken while it was considering whether to eat the bush-cricket.

Habitat:

Fence around a garden in an urban area

Notes:

I'm pretty sure this is Segestria senoculata, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
