Field Notes

Notes:

Found this one in NC Aquarium. An invasive species of the Atlantic coast. Brought here through dumping them into the ocean after they ate all the fish in people's tanks. One female can reproduce 100,000 babies per year! It is at the top of the food chain due to bigger fish not recognizing it as prey and its spines. Is killing off other fish through eating the smaller ones and eliminating food for the bigger ones. In Florida, there is a group that is eliminating about 500 each year. Please help save the other fish and send this one back to its home in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
