Field Notes

Description:

Glossy all-black plumage. There is a certain vulnerability about this bird that makes me think it is not yet fully-grown.

Habitat:

Bombax ceiba tree growing in the campus of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute...just beyond this area lie the field where new varieties of crops are developed and field-tested. A stone's throw away are New Delhi's busy urban roads.

Notes:

The bright red flowers are of the Silk Cotton Tree-Bombax ceiba.
