Field Notes

Description:

Bar-shouldered Doves have a gray head and upper breast, and a reddish copper patch with dark bars on the back of the neck and shoulders. Body is grayish brown above with scaly markings. Underside is white.The eye ring tends to be grey but red-brown when breeding.

Habitat:

Spotted from the bird hide at the Broome Bird Observatory (BBO).

Notes:

A couple of Bar-shouldered Doves had come in for a drink with some Peaceful Doves, Rufous-throated Honeyeaters, and Magpie-larks.
