Description:

I think this is a male European garden spider, although the usual cross marking on the abdomen isn't so obvious. It's easy to tell that this fellow is a male because of those enlarged pedipalps (the short limbs on either side of his face) - he'll use them to transfer sperm to the female when he mates.
