Description:

They were very low-growing with round, purplish leaves. I only found some shriveled-up berries such as this one.

Habitat:

Mt. Katahdin on a rocky path with other low-growing plants and shrubs

It could be, it looks very similar to the photos online. I'm not sure if there are other similar species as well in the area though.
