Field Notes

Description:

Large eagle, about 50-60 cm standing. Dark brown with redish tinges on the wings and body, white chest and white head. Yellow around the eye and slightly curved beak. Classic fish eagle.

Habitat:

In a woody shrub growing on top of a rocky crag of coral on the beach on the east coast.

Notes:

such terrible photos for such an exciting spotting. This pair appeared to be based here and every morning and every evening could be seen cruising the rock pools and out into the sea as well, and across the coastal scrub along the coastline.
