Description:
Named for its spectacular body-shape which looks similar to an elephant’s trunk, this moth is brown with flashy pink streaks.
Habitat:
Grassy area in a garden that has been left uncultivated.
Notes:
Typically emerging in May they will feed on wildflowers such as honeysuckle. The elephant hawk-moth is one of the larger macro-moths, reaching a wingspan of up to 70 millimetres.
