Description:
The Small Heath is a small diurnal butterfly, about 2.5 cm in wingspan, belonging to the family Nymphalidae, and the subfamily Satyrinae - or "the browns". Weak flyer, I rarely seen its colors from the dorsal side - as it always feeds with its wings folded.
Habitat:
The Small Heath is Palearctic species, widely spread in Europe in particular. Here, found on edges and large forest pathwalk in our beautiful Bagasse forest (deciduous forest, predominantly oak) on France-Switzerland border, in a valley of lake Geneva, just in between Jura and Alps mountains ranges.
