Field Notes

Description:

A large flat white mushroom with black gills. The caps were about 4 inches in diameter and had cracks in the tops.

Habitat:

Hard packed gravel by a roadside. Widely spaced. Hardy plants like dandelions were nearby.

I'm not sure whether the last picture is the same species or not. The cap has a big hole in the middle, but all the individual mushrooms were in the same area. Can anyone confirm?
