Field Notes

Description:

A slim plant bug about 10mm long. Distinctive tan, black and white patterns. Long, black antennal scape, shortened wing covers typical of the family. One fascinating feature is the pale coloured vein at the rear which hooks to the starboard side. I found this on other images to verify it wasn't a vagrant thread.

Habitat:

Found on a small prostrate bush in a local nature reserve. I should have noted the plant species.

Notes:

The hooked (assymetrical) vein is interesting in that a related genus has the same but it hooks to the port side. https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/1890586002 <br> As the wing covers are very short this vein might result from the way the wings are folded.. that's my latest theory anyway.
