Field Notes

Description:

An eastern carpenter bee spotted in the same thicket of flowers as the honey bees I spotted. They're both in a sort of garden the local park has set up, and the animals have just come naturally. It's beautiful.

Habitat:

Common through Eastern US and Canada.

Notes:

The eastern carpenter bee differs from other bee species in that it does not have a queen, which I find interesting.
