Egg
22.4246, 88.3447
Field Notes
Description:
Small...first shot shows the size in comparison to my index finger nail. Leathery texture. White.
Habitat:
I was re-potting a plant on my roof top terrace. About 3-4 months back all the pots had been cleaned, fresh soil and manure added. Today when I upturned the pot, the soil around the root came out in one clump...the roots were all around the clump. I broke the clump into two pieces and about 8-10 of these eggs were exposed. I covered them up with the soil and dumped them in an abandoned garden full of vegetation.
Notes:
What could have laid these leathery eggs? And how did the mother find its way inside the clump of earth in a pot on my rooftop...I saw no signs that she had burrowed in. My pots are watered at least once a day.
Too small to be snake eggs...but could a blind snake? Those are pretty common in gardens and in flower pots.
