This was one of the larger Turtle Ants, and I saw this one on a tree trunk during a night walk.

All the species in the genus Cephalotes are called Turtle Ants. Like most insects, these only have scientific names and no common name for each species.

You are showing two different turtle ants (black and light brown). Are they related, or two different kinds of turtle ants? Very interesting....
