Field Notes

Description:

The larvae, being of a gregarious habit, feed on Ipomoea species (morning glory, sweet potato, bindweed, moonflower, etc.) with a voracious appetite, which can have a potentially dangerous impact on crops
This one was about 15 mm (0.59 in) in length, which is (from what I've read) pretty much as big as they get.

Habitat:

Subtropical mountainous area, hot & humid, thick brush and trees.

Notes:

Was pretty excited to find this, as I'd never seen one in front of me before! Really exquisite beauty.
