Field Notes

Description:

This one was a toss up for me, I had considered the possibility that this was an eastern tailed blue, but the pale spots on the wings and the fact that when it took off the front of its wings weren't blue (more of a dark gray with orange spots at the bottom and a little bit of a tail coming off them) made me sure this was a gray hairstreak after some research.

Habitat:

Found throughout continental United States from southern Canada south to Mexico; southward to Venezuela. Most common hairstreak in North America.
