Field Notes
Description:
The African Tulip Tree has reddish, orange tulips growing on it. It has no fruit. It has a twisty, brown trunk. Its leaves are in the shape of an Oblong leaf. It's leaf has a length of 16.5cm. and a width of 6cm. It's leaf margin is entire It has a parallel leaf venation. Leaf arrangement is sub opposite. It's leaf texture is rough, and has boat-like seed pods on the tree itself. The leaf's colour is light-greenish. It has a Platy bark texture as well as a butress root system.
Habitat:
This is an invasive species. It's natural habitat is tropical west Africa. We found the African Tulip in a shady spot next to other African Tulips. We found the tree in a secondary rainforest, there wasn't a lot of sunlight getting into the area.
Notes:
We found the tree next to some rotting bark with mushrooms growing on it.
