Description:
Adults are brown with black bars on the back and wings. A mid-to-large-sized woodpecker, it measures 28–36 cm in length and 42–54 cm in wingspan. Their Primary food is Insects but they also eat fruit, nuts, seeds and berries. Out of their Insect diet they eat mostly Ants, flies, butterflies, moths, beetles, and snails.
Habitat:
I observed this on a feeding station in my backyard. Flickers are normally found in areas with many trees, such as woodlands, backyards, and parks.
Notes:
This guy was dominating the feeder. All the other birds except a bluebird were staying away from the feeding station while the flicker was there.
