Field Notes

Description:

This green leafed plant was found under the shade of a tall tree in the Singapore American School rainforest. The leaves have a strong smell, slightly herbal. The leaves have a length of 15 centimetres and a width of 3.5 centimetres at the widest point. The leaf margin is even and smooth throughout (entire), it is waxy. The leaf arrangement is alternate, and the leaf venation is parallel. The texture of the bark for this plant is rough. The leaf shape is lanceolate. This plant has no fruit, at least at this stage.

Habitat:

Under a partially-shady tree, in a new growth rainforest.
